An Evening with David Rothman

Crested Butte’s own, Dr. David Rothman, has recently been named Poet Laureate of the Western Slope, by the The Telluride Institute’s Talking Gourds Program. The naming of a Western Slope Poet Laureate honors an outstanding poet who has helped promote the practice of poetry on the Western Slope and around the state of Colorado. Dr. Rothman is a widely published poet, critic, scholar and educator who has resided in Crested Butte for most of the last 25 years. He currently serves as the Director of the Graduate Program in Creative Writing at Western State Colorado University. His most recent volumes of poetry include, The Book of Catapults , as well as a book of essays about mountains and mountain towns Living the Life, all published in 2013. In 2017 he edited a book about the great Colorado poet Belle Turnbull, entitled, Belle Turnbull: On the Life & Work of an American Master. Dr. Rothman also serves as Resident Poet for Colorado Public Radio.

Dr. Rothman will be joining us at the Crested Butte Library on Thursday, October 26 at 7 pm to share his poetry and writing and inspire the community in the craft of writing and words.
